Still Living In The Dash

To me, The Dash poem by Linda Ellis is one of the most meaningful pieces written in the last 20 years. She wrote the poem in 1996, but it seems almost timeless. If you have not read the entire poem lately, please visit her site at http://www.linda-ellis.com/the-dash-the-dash-poem-by-linda-ellis-.html to read it.  Below is a short excerpt.

“For it matters not, how much we own,
the cars…the house…the cash
What matters is how we live and love
and how we spend our dash.”

As we are about to start a new year, we each have our own hopes, goals, dreams and aspirations for 2014. I hope that you would take a few minutes to reflect on 2013 and pray about 2014.

My personal prayer would be that I live fully in The Dash and do it in a way that is pleasing to the Lord. No longer do I want to go through life merely attempting to accumulate wealth and items, but to use my talents to serve my family, friends, community and others in need.

I am not saying wealth is a bad thing, actually just the opposite.  Use your wealth and expertise to be in service of other.

Andy Stanley’s new book releases today titled How to Be Rich: It’s Not What You Have. It’s What You Do With What You Have.

Author and Pastor Andy Stanley, asks us to imagine the difference we could make if we followed Paul’s command in 1 Timothy 6:18. ‘Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.’ —1 Timothy 6:18

In his book, Andy Stanley challenges today’s Christians to rise to the occasion. To unleash a wave of generosity. To be rich—in a big, big way.

The purpose of this blog will be for me to share “My Dash” with you.  I will share my interests, my passions, my thoughts, my talents and my strengths with the readers of this blog.  Please feel free to share your own comments and stories as we move forward.

Have a Safe and Happy New Year.  I hope 2014 is the best part of your Dash yet.
