Hello Everyone.
Today’s question is a good one in my opinion. It is: What can the New Orleans Saints teach you about Internet Marketing?
The Saints came into the 2007 NFL with big goals and bigger expectations. They opened up the season with a Thursday night, nationally televised game against the Indianapolis Colts. After going into half time with a 10 -10 tie, they were blown out in the second half. The Saints then went on to lose the next three games and the old ‘Aints bags came out.
Well, I’ve been a life long Saints fan and Chicago Cubs fan, so I’ve been through many down seasons, and always hold out hope. In most past years, I’ve been let down, but it always a fun ride.
Now, half way through the season, the Saints are 4 and 4, winning big in the 3 of their 4 games during this winning streak. They even had 399 yards and 23 first downs in the first half of today’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Saints are only 1/2 game out of first in the NFC South division.
Ok, this is all good for the Saints, but what does it have to do with Internet Marketing? The Saints and their “fans” came into the season excited. It is just like a newbie IM just getting started.
Does this sound familiar: The Newbie just bought his first Ebook, just signed up as an affiliate at ClickBank.com, then opened a Google Adwords account. He then throws in some generic keywords into a PPC campaign, hits start, then smiles, and goes to bed. He can’t wait to get up the next morning to log into his Click Bank account to see if he made a $1000 while he was sleeping. Don’t laugh, I’m sure that your first campaign was exactly the same. I know that mine was.
You know what the results were, — no sales and a $150 Adwords bill. Now the Newbie is out $47 for the Ebook and Google is a $150 richer. So down $200 that he probably could not afford to spend, he quits before he even gets started.
The Saints did not quit and you should not either.
A very wise man once told me, “Success does not happen overnight, yet success does happen overnight.” It is a very powerful saying.
It may take you 3 months or 3 years, but don’t give up on your dreams.

- Read the forums and blogs of successful people
- Fail and Learn from it
- Get started doing something again
- Try and you may success, don’t try and you will surely fail.
